About the Role
North West Hospital and Health Service is seeking an Advanced Registrar in General Paediatrics to join the paediatric team in Mount Isa, Queensland.
This role offers broad paediatric experience across inpatient, outpatient, outreach, on-call, and retrieval services. You will support children and families across Mount Isa and remote communities throughout North West Queensland, while continuing to progress your paediatric training.
You will also supervise junior medical staff, contribute to teaching and education, and work closely with visiting subspecialty services.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide clinical care across a busy paediatric unit
• Work across inpatient, outpatient, outreach, on-call, and retrieval services
• Support paediatric care for children and families across rural and remote communities
• Collaborate with visiting subspecialty teams
• Supervise and support junior medical staff
• Contribute to teaching, training, and clinical education
Salary and Benefits
The remuneration package is valued at up to A$189,261 - A$212,826 p.a. pro rata, depending on engagement period and classification.
The package includes:
• Base salary between A$133,848 – A$154,749 p.a.
• 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
• Up to 6 weeks annual recreational leave accumulation
• Up to 27.5% leave loading when leave is taken
• Attraction and retention incentive allowance
• Regional and rural attraction allowance
• Professional development allowance and 2.2 weeks professional development leave per year
• Inaccessibility allowance
• Accommodation provided as per NWHHS staff accommodation procedure
Requirements
Applicants must have:
• Current registration, or eligibility for registration, as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia
• A recognised medical degree qualification
• Successful completion of the FRACP paediatric clinical and written exam, or equivalent with • RACP certification
• Appropriate registration, licences, and qualifications for the role
• The successful applicant will also be required to complete pre-employment screening, including criminal history checks. This is a vaccine-preventable disease risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity.
