The opportunity
Permanent full-time positions are available for doctors who can work independently across hospital-based care and outreach services. The clinical environment offers a broad scope of rural medicine, with access to resident specialists, telehealth consultation and remote care coordination support.
What you’ll be doing
• Deliver general medical, emergency and acute inpatient care across a broad scope of practice.
• Provide scheduled clinical outreach to remote communities.
• Work across wards, emergency care, clinics and remote primary care services.
• Lead multidisciplinary clinical teams and support junior medical staff.
• Collaborate with nursing, allied health and Aboriginal health professionals.
• Use telehealth to consult with specialist colleagues and support remote patients.
• Participate in the applicable on-call roster.
• For procedural obstetrics appointments, provide maternity care, respond to obstetric emergencies and support the multidisciplinary maternity team.
• Contribute to quality improvement, research and the supervision of trainees where appropriate.
What you’ll bring
• Specialist qualifications.
• Working towards a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
• The qualifications, certifications and recent clinical experience required for your chosen stream.
• For procedural obstetrics roles, a formal postgraduate qualification in obstetrics or equivalent extensive experience.
• Evidence of recent emergency medicine skill maintenance and continuing professional development, including an applicable advanced clinical course.
• Substantial experience working across cultures.
• The ability to practise independently without clinical supervision.
