About This Role
Mackay Hospital and Health Service is seeking a Principal House Officer or Registrar to join the Emergency Department at Mackay Base Hospital on a temporary full-time basis.
This role would suit UK or Irish-trained doctors looking for Emergency Medicine jobs in Australia, particularly those seeking broad clinical exposure, accredited training and experience in a regional Australian hospital setting.
You will contribute to the delivery of emergency care, support the development of clinical services, and take part in medical education and knowledge sharing across the department.

About the Emergency Department
The Emergency Department at Mackay Base Hospital includes:
• 21 acute bays
• 2 resuscitation bays
• 4 high dependency bays
• 12 consultation bays
• 14-bed Short Stay Unit
The department is an Adult/Mixed Non-Major Referral Base Emergency Department for Mackay Hospital and Health Service.
It is accredited as a Tier 3 ACEM training site for 12 months of Emergency Medicine training.
The department is also accredited for:
ACEM Specialist Fellowship Training
ACRRM Advanced Skills Training
RACGP Core Generalist Training
Foundational, intermediate and advanced ACEM Associateship training programs
There are also opportunities for non-ED terms in Anaesthetics, ICU and other departments, as well as point-of-care ultrasound learning through the FACEM cohort.
Key Responsibilities
Provide emergency medical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
Participate in the development and maintenance of effective, efficient and equitable clinical services.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary Emergency Medicine team.
Contribute to medical education and the sharing of clinical knowledge with staff and patients.
Support continual improvement within the department.
