About the Role
Grampians Health Ballarat is seeking Emergency Medicine Registrars to join its Emergency Department team.
This is a strong opportunity for UK, Irish and international doctors looking to build Emergency Medicine experience in Australia within a busy regional department. The role offers broad clinical exposure, structured teaching and access to supportive senior supervision.
The Emergency Department includes:
• 19-bed main department
• Fast-track area
• 5-bed Paediatric ED
• 12-bed Short Stay Unit
• Front-of-house model
• 3 resuscitation bays
The hospital is also undergoing redevelopment, with a new Emergency Department expected to open in early 2028.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team across adult and paediatric emergency presentations.
Participate in assessment, management and escalation of acute and urgent presentations.
Support junior medical staff where appropriate.
Take part in teaching, clinical review, feedback and quality improvement activities.
Engage with structured Emergency Medicine training and supervision.
Training and Development
The department has a strong focus on supervision, education and registrar development.
Doctors will have access to:
Protected weekly teaching sessions
Fortnightly multidisciplinary morbidity and mortality meetings
Proactive training programs
Mentoring and succession planning for ACEM trainees
ALS2 and APLS courses
Rotations through ICU, anaesthetics and other specialties
The Ballarat Campus is also a major teaching site affiliated with the University of Melbourne and Deakin University Clinical Schools.

• Emergency Medicine

Eligibility
Applicants must hold General Registration with AHPRA at a minimum.
