About the Role
As an Emergency Medicine REG within Hunter New England Health, you will gain hands-on clinical experience across a broad and varied patient population.
The network provides exposure to busy tertiary emergency care, regional and rural Emergency Medicine, trauma, paediatrics, critical care and specialty rotations. John Hunter Hospital is a major trauma centre and one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Australia, offering significant tertiary and retrieval-focused experience.
REG's are supported through a district-wide training program designed to provide continuity, progression and exposure across the key domains of Emergency Medicine.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Provide clinical care to Emergency Department patients under supervision
Assess and manage acute presentations across a range of sites
Participate in teaching, training and education activities
Develop procedural and critical care skills
Work closely with FACEMs, senior trainees, nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams
Contribute to safe, effective patient care across metropolitan, regional and rural settings
Hospital and Network Sites
Training opportunities may be offered across several Hunter New England Health sites, including:
John Hunter Hospital
Belmont District Hospital
Calvary Mater Newcastle
Maitland Hospital
Tamworth Hospital
The network may also include opportunities linked with Port Macquarie Base Hospital and Manning Base Hospital.
John Hunter Hospital provides tertiary Emergency Medicine experience and is a Level 1 Trauma Centre. It is one of Australia’s busiest Emergency Departments and has a strong trauma and retrieval focus.
Location
Hunter New England Health covers a large and varied region of New South Wales, including Newcastle, the Hunter region, Tamworth and surrounding regional areas.
Doctors can gain experience across coastal, metropolitan, regional and rural settings while developing a broad understanding of Emergency Medicine practice in Australia.
