About the Role
Royal Hobart Hospital is recruiting Geriatric Medicine Registrars / Senior Registrars for the 2027 Doctors in Training intake.
This role sits within the Aged Care Department, which includes 9 FTE registrar positions, supported by interns, resident medical officers, consultants, and a team of 17 geriatricians.
The department covers acute geriatrics, subacute care, GEM, dementia-related rehabilitation, GEM at Home, inpatient consults, orthogeriatrics, outpatient clinics, outreach clinics, teaching, and research.
Rotation preferences will be discussed before commencement, taking the doctor’s training goals and educational objectives into account.
Key Responsibilities
The Registrar is responsible for:
• Managing public and private inpatients and outpatients
• Providing after-hours emergency cover
• Working with junior doctors and consultants
• Supporting acute, subacute, outpatient, outreach, and inpatient aged care services
• Contributing to teaching, training, and clinical care across the department
Salary and Classification
• Salary: $138,978 – $194,675 per annum
• Classification: Medical Practitioner Level 5–11
• Award: Medical Practitioners Tasmanian State Service Award
• Employment type: Fixed-term, full-time
• Hours: 76 hours per fortnight, plus 10 hours protected training time per fortnight
• Part-time hours may be considered
