The opportunity
This permanent, full-time Staff Specialist position sits within a public mental health service providing hospital-based psychiatric care. You’ll practise as a senior medical practitioner while working closely with a multidisciplinary team and supporting the development of trainees, residents and medical students.
What you’ll be doing
• Providing senior medical expertise in psychiatry.
• Working constructively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Leading and supervising doctors in training, residents and medical students.
• Contributing to teaching and clinical education.
• Supporting quality improvement across the service.
• Demonstrating strong communication, professional conduct and collaborative leadership.
What you’ll bring
• Medical registration, or eligibility for registration, in Australia.
• An unrestricted or 19AB-exempt provider number.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent recognised specialist qualifications.
• Appropriate experience to practise as a senior medical practitioner in psychiatry.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and multidisciplinary working skills.
• An interest in quality improvement and medical education.
• Applicants expecting to receive Fellowship within six months may be considered, although commencement cannot occur until all relevant qualifications and requirements have been completed.
