About the Role
The Paediatric Department at North West Regional Hospital is seeking Paediatrics Registrars to join their supportive and highly regarded regional training team in Burnie, Tasmania.
This role offers excellent exposure across inpatient paediatrics, neonatal medicine, outpatient clinics, community paediatrics, and emergency presentations within a modern regional hospital setting.
As a Paediatrics Registrar, you will assess and manage paediatric and neonatal patients across inpatient and outpatient settings, attend deliveries, manage neonatal and paediatric emergencies, and participate in after-hours on-call responsibilities.
The role provides significant hands-on experience with appropriate consultant supervision and is ideal for doctors looking to strengthen their clinical experience within a broad rural and regional paediatrics environment.
Registrars also have opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary asthma/allergy and behavioural/developmental clinics, as well as specialist clinics including cardiology, diabetes, endocrinology, rehabilitation, and oncology.

The Paediatric Department provides services across multiple sites including Burnie, Latrobe, and regional outreach clinics throughout North West Tasmania.
The department manages approximately:
• 1,000 paediatric admissions annually
• 1,000 births per year
• 150–200 Special Care Nursery admissions annually

This position offers excellent accredited training opportunities including:
• Full RACP Accreditation for General Paediatrics (Rural)
• Advanced Specialised Training Accreditation through ACRRM
• Exposure to acute care, developmental paediatrics, neonatal medicine, and community paediatrics
• Regular teaching sessions and multidisciplinary learning opportunities
• 10 hours of paid protected training time per fortnight (Registrars)

Eligibility
• To be eligible for this role, you must:
• Hold MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
• Be eligible for registration with AHPRA
• Have paediatric experience at registrar or equivalent level
• Demonstrate recent clinical practice with appropriate references
• Meet all essential criteria outlined in the Statement of Duties
Pay & Conditions
• Fixed-term full-time role until February 2028
• Up to 76 hours per fortnight
• Salary package up to $189,005 p.a. plus superannuation
