The hospital is accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards and offers broad exposure across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, neonatal and community paediatrics.

The Role
As a Paediatrics Registrar, you will be involved in the assessment and management of paediatric and neonatal patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. The role includes attendance at deliveries, management of neonatal and paediatric emergencies, procedural work, after-hours on-call duties and involvement in discharge planning and clinical governance activities.
You will also have exposure to regular outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary asthma, allergy, behavioural and neurodevelopmental clinics, and specialist clinics including rehabilitation, cardiology, diabetes, endocrinology and oncology.
Hospital and Department
The Paediatric Department provides services across North West Regional Hospital in Burnie, Mersey Community Hospital in Latrobe, North West Private Hospital, and outreach locations including Smithton, King Island, Queenstown and Rosebery.
The paediatric ward manages approximately 1,000 admissions per year. The maternity service has around 1,000 births annually, with approximately 150–200 admissions to the Special Care Nursery.
The department has full accreditation for Advanced Specialised Training in Paediatrics through ACRRM and full RACP accreditation for General Paediatrics Rural, including perinatal components.

• Undertake paediatric and neonatal procedures within your clinical privileges.
• Participate in after-hours on-site paediatric registrar duties.
