An excellent opportunity is available for a Plastic Surgery Registrar to join a well-supported surgical team in northern Tasmania for the 2027 clinical year.
This fixed-term, full-time role offers broad exposure across Plastic Surgery, including operating, emergency presentations, outpatient clinics and participation in the on-call roster. The position is suitable for doctors seeking further surgical experience in a supportive regional hospital environment, with additional opportunities for teaching, research and professional development.
This role may be of interest to UK and Irish-trained doctors looking to gain structured surgical experience in Australia, particularly those considering a move into registrar-level roles within the Australian healthcare system.
The Role
As a Non-Accredited Plastic Surgery Registrar, you will contribute to the daily management of Plastic Surgery patients and support clinical activity across the service.
You will gain experience across:
• Plastic Surgery inpatient care
• Operating lists
• Emergency Plastic Surgery presentations
• Outpatient clinics
• On-call responsibilities
• Multidisciplinary surgical care
• Teaching and research opportunities
The role is clinically well supported and provides 10 hours of paid, protected training time per fortnight, pro rata.
Appointment Details
• Multiple fixed-term, full-time positions available
• Commencing 1 February 2027
• Contract until 6 February 2028
• Up to 76 hours per fortnight
• Day worker position, with hours to be negotiated with successful applicants
• 12-month recruitment pool may be used to fill similar future vacancies
Salary and Benefits
Salary package includes:
• Base salary from AUD $138,978 to $194,675 per annum, pro rata
• 12% superannuation
• Salary packaging benefits, including living expenses up to $9,010 and meals and entertainment up to $2,650 per year
• Continuing Professional Development Allowance of AUD $3,183 per annum, pro rata
• Travel and relocation assistance of up to AUD $15,000 for eligible overseas appointees
• Travel and relocation assistance of up to AUD $10,000 for eligible interstate appointees
• Study leave and professional development support

General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
