Senior Registrar – Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Blugibbon is supporting applications for a Senior Registrar in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Launceston General Hospital, Tasmania’s second largest hospital.
This is a fixed-term opportunity commencing 1 February 2027 until 31 January 2028, suitable for advanced trainees, unaccredited registrars or SIMGs seeking strong clinical exposure in a well-supported public hospital setting.
About the Role
You will work within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Launceston General Hospital, providing day-to-day clinical care across women’s and children’s services.
The unit manages approximately 1,600 births per year and includes a neonatal unit providing care from 32 weeks’ gestation. The department provides broad obstetric and gynaecological exposure, including high-risk pregnancy care, hysteroscopic procedures, urogynecology at a generalist level, open and vaginal surgery, and laparoscopy up to level 6.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Provide clinical management for Obstetrics and Gynaecology patients at Launceston General Hospital.
• Participate in operative procedures for gynaecology patients under consultant supervision.
• Support inpatient and postoperative care for private gynaecology patients at Calvary Healthcare.
• Supervise and teach junior medical staff and medical students.
• Participate in postgraduate education and training activities.

• Salary from $134,930 to $189,005 per annum, pro rata
