LOCUM DOCTOR IN MOUNT GAMBIER

By Dr Elissa

WHAT IS THE TEAM LIKE?

Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service (aka Mount Gambier Hospital), SA. It’s a small team of very capable and welcoming nurses, doctors and support staff, they made a locum doctor feel at home.  Requesting investigations and referring for admissions is a breeze.

WHAT DOES THE TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION LOOK LIKE FOR A LOCUM DOCTOR IN MOUNT GAMBIER?

I settled in great, but definitely bring an extra jumper and raincoat, just in case it is a little chilly and wet! Hot tip, the cafe at the hospital opens at 10am Saturday and Sunday, so prepare to be pre caffeinated if you are doing a day shift. It is either a five hour drive or a simple one hour flight from Adelaide.  The accommodation was a self-selected pet-friendly place but the hospital supplied accommodation that is close to the hospital and comfortable (you would still need use of a car).

ANY LOCAL’S INSIDE INFORMATION TO SHARE? BEST SWIMMING SPOTS? LOOKOUTS? BIKE OR WALK TRAILS?

I highly suggest a walk around the beautiful Blue Lake.
